Looking positively to the future

The Bransford Webbs Plant Company is excited to be looking forward to 2021 and the future, following the most turbulent few months the nursery has ever had to navigate in its 60-year history. As with the whole of the horticultural industry, Bransford Webbs has witnessed an unprecedented few months and have had to make some tough but essential decisions during this time. We are proud to now be in a position to look forward to the future with positivity. Following some difficult production decisions in April which led to shortages throughout early summer, crops are now filling the nursery for 2021 sales. Large numbers of early season promotions, such as Hebes and Hellebores, are now on the ground and looking good for next year. Last October, building began on a new production area, covering 17,000m2 consisting of 49 low polytunnels, increasing production capacity by 20%, and due for completion by … Continue reading

New logo to help educate consumers about recyclable plant pots

Following the introduction of the new taupe plastic pot, which is kerbside recyclable, it is paramount that we educate the final consumer as quickly as possible that these pots can be put in their kerbside recycling bin and encourage consumers and garden centres to engage with their local councils and recycling plants to ensure the pot is included on the ‘can be’ recycled list. Most packaging in the supermarkets now displays widely recognisable symbols to show whether it can or cannot be recycled, but also in many cases a much more obvious tag line to flag up the fact the material can be recycled, e.g. on the front of the main label or on a bottle top. Here at Bransford Webbs, we wanted to make it as obvious and clear as possible to the final consumer that the pot can be recycled. With this in mind, it was imperative that … Continue reading

Major expansion work at Bransford Webbs

Following months of detailed planning, work is now underway on a major expansion at The Bransford Webbs Plant Company.   Building has begun on a new production area, which covers 18, 000m2 and will consist of 49 low polytunnels. This new development will increase our production capacity by 20%, enabling us to further meet our customers’ requirements. The new tunnels will allow production staff the increased ability to control individual growing environments of specific crops leading to further increases in the high-quality standards of our plants. The aim is to begin potting into the area once partially completed in March 2020, with a final completion date planned for autumn 2020.     “This is the largest single expansion we have undertaken here at Bransford Webbs”, commented Adrian Marskell, Managing Director. “It will enable us to cope with the increasing demands from our customers for quality UK grown stock”.
